About me
Dave Newell is currently a Transit Coordinator in the Modal Development office at the Florida Department of Transportation in Tampa, Florida. He has been with the Department for the last 9 years working in various transit programs both Federal and State. He is responsible for grant administration, coordination, invoicing, and compliance. He oversees FDOT Triennial Reviews of FDOT’s District 7 transit agencies, including FTA Section 5310 sub-recipients, which entails on-site visits with compliance reviewers from the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR), as well as following up with the agency to ensure corrective actions are in place. He yearly hosts a workshop for all current and prospective applicants to the Section 5310 program and provides hands-on training and support for those agencies throughout the application process. He reviews Title VI plans, Transit Development Plans and Performance Measures and connects his agencies to the trainings they need, provided by the State.
Prior to join FDOT, Mr. Newell worked as a consultant in a range of traffic related fields including Roadway Safety Audits, Traffic Counts, and preparing emergency evacuation maps. He has been married for 23 years and has two sons currently in college.
