About me
Paul Goyette served as the Deputy Director for Lee County Transit in Fort Myers, Florida for several years. With over 25 years of public transportation experience, Paul conveyed a cohesive leadership style to the employees at Lee Tran to support a cross-functional and efficient transit system. Paul’s responsibilities included oversight of all departments, the operating budget, as well as many capital projects. Paul managed a variety of areas including all administrative functions, facilities management, technology management, fixed and paratransit operations, safety and security and customer service. Paul managed the day-to-day activities at five transit facilities and managed various building construction and technology projects.
Paul began his transit career in 1990 as a maintenance worker for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) in Providence, Rhode Island. Moving up through the ranks, Paul worked in a variety of positions including bus operator, office clerk, street supervisor and instructor. After relocating to Lee County, Paul joined Lee Tran putting his expertise and experience in transit to work. As part of the Lee Tran team, Paul became active in policy development, team building and change management concepts. Paul was instrumental in design phases and final completion of several transit terminals for Lee Tran.
Paul is a senior associate staff member for The USDOT Transportation Safety Institute. Paul has taught various classes for the Center for Urban Transit Research (CUTR) and the Florida Department of Transportation relating to transit safety, emergency management and operations. Paul has been active in the Florida Transit Safety and Operations Network, the Federal Transit Administrations Safety Standards Working Group, and he has assisted in 14-90 policy and rule development for the State of Florida. Paul has also been a guest speaker at the Transportation Research Board workshops, speaking on SMS concepts.
Paul is currently the project manager for the Florida Transit Safety and Operations Network and is the project lead for emergency management coordination between the Transit Safety and Workforce Development department at CUTR and the Florida Department of Transportation transit office.
