About me
Lamar Hobbs is the Transit Program Administrator of the Bay County Board of County Commissioner’s Transit Department. Having worked in public service for more than 25 years, Lamar’s vast experience coordinating and leading administrative and operational functions has allowed him to earn the reputation of a dynamic, innovative leader and a dedicated public servant.
Prior to his current role, Lamar served as the Transit Operations Coordinator for the Bay County Board of County Commissioners. He was instrumental in returning Bay County’s Public Transit System to full operation within 15 days of Hurricane Michael’s deadly destruction in 2019.
As a result of his leadership and dedication to this natural disaster, Lamar and the Bayway team were awarded the first Emerald Award from the Emerald Coast Regional Council and the 2019 Urban Community Transportation Coordinator of the Year by the Florida Commission for The Transportation Disadvantaged.
Lamar previously led the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center as Executive Director and was also a proud member of local law enforcement for more than 20 years, holding various leadership positions before attaining Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Springfield.
In his personal life, Lamar enjoys volunteering with the Florida Special Olympics and Southeastern Community Blood Center and has served as a board member and Elder for The Father’s House Church PCB.
Lamar was born and raised in Panama City, Florida and holds a B.S. in Public Safety and Security from Florida State University and Certifications in Law Enforcement and Corrections. He is married to Amy Hobbs, an Administrator with the Bay District School System, and they have three sons together.
